I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Psalms 32:8 (KJV).

REFLECT:
When we look around us and see how far derailed our world has become concerning moral decency and behavior conduct, we would all agree that we need some good doses of good Godly counsel, guidance, and instructions. Putting it simply, we need an accurate road map, on what to do, how to act, and how to behave.

Of course, we indeed have a variety of counseling portals out there, some are free of charge, such as what we get from TV/social media and news materials, peer groups and organizations we associate with, churches and religious houses, etc.

On the other hand, we get paid for counseling e.g., life coaches and personal psychologists. Whether free or not there is some form of counseling going on, and such counseling aims to put the recipients on the right track, direction, or guide map on life or societal expectations.

All such avenues are reasonably well and good, however, we are still facing huge problems in the world, the continuous rapid decline in moral ethics and behavior.

So, what is the problem? Is it that people are not just listening? Or whatever counselings are out there have failed to impact positive results? Or still, both counseling and the targeted groups have missed out on the true essence of what good and Godly counseling contains or represents?

Our Bible verse for today gives us a clear insight into the questions asked above. Going by what our Bible verse is saying we may understand that:

1. Godly counseling can only come from the Word of God. This means that we cannot just wipe up sentiments and emotions to use as a tool for counseling. Maybe this is the reason why people are no longer listening since such counseling methods do not truly change the hearts of individuals, but rather cause more confusion, and confusion of itself breeds suspicion.

2. The Word of God is the only tool or medium that can change the hearts of men, and give them hope and a purpose for life. Unlike other counseling methods that have no depth and lasting solutions.

3. When God’s Word is brought into the picture, it also means we bring in the whole essence of God’s Sovereignty into the issue or situation we are facing, and of course, God can never deny Himself and so He comes fully prepared to solve the problem, to lead, instruct, guide and direct through the Holy Spirit. This is not the case with other methods of counseling which may even seem to have a form of Godliness, but on the other hand, deny the essence of God’s power by employing mundane and earthly reasonings.

Therefore, if we must succeed in this life, the only way is to look unto God our Father for His guidance and direction, and we can only find this in the Bible, the only accurate manual and road map for life.

When we agree to rely on God’s leading, instruction and counseling there is absolutely no way we could ever go wrong or miss our way in life.

FATHER GOD, thank You for being the one who can truly guide, instruct, and counsel me. I am so grateful for all that You have done for me! You provided a way for me to know You, and You continue to draw me closer to You. Today, I ask that You guide me. Show me the paths I should take and keep me from making decisions that disobey You. I want to walk through life close to You. In JESUS MIGHTY NAME AMEN.
