BIBLE VERSE:
The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein. Psalms 24:1 (KJV).
REFLECTIONS:
A lot of us can identify with the opening statement to our reflections for today. Reasons being that we may be landowners ourselves, having landed properties with the trappings that come along with it. Such trappings could be the title deeds, maybe structures that have been meticulously put up, livestock, and agricultural production by way of cash or sharecropping, etc.
On the other hand, we would also find others who may not be landowners but somehow benefit from the land one way or another such as feeding off of the land as a form of livelihood or personal sustenance. Either way, we all are linked to the land. One huge and important aspect of owning land or landed property is the title deeds or documents recognizing the payment of legal transactions to the previous owners that give a legal backing or ownership to the land.
Now the owner has the right to do whatever they want or wish to the land after obtaining it. They of course would fall in love with the land, be very excited, and have ideas for the land. They would map out the land and make plans on inhabiting the land with as many things–living and nonliving on the said land. Their sole desire would be to see the land and all that is in it blessed, flourish, and prosper, by now we should be getting the picture!
This picture is just a minute scenario of a much bigger picture, the whole world or universe, and the landowner is our Father God the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. Sometimes it is very easy to forget that God Almighty is the creator of this whole world, and thus has sole rights to this world. Some others do not even know or have an inclination that God Almighty owns the world. While still a good number of others have a strong awareness of God’s ownership of the world but they are not really in tune/have in-depth knowledge or understanding of how things must be run or governed based on the owner’s instruction manual or the Spirit of the owner.
So what happens? Everyone goes around with their own ideas, intellect, rationalizations, ideologies, and doctrinal perspectives on how they think the world should be managed. No wonder there is so much chaos, amok, confusion, upheavals, corruption, and other vices we experience in our world. So what is the solution?
Rightly speaking, we must first and foremost, have a grounded awareness, always and constantly remember and reflect on the fact that this earth or world belongs to God Almighty, and we achieve this by going to the right resource for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, which is the Word of God, the Bible and with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Secondly, we must be careful and diligent to apply the principles as we spend time in God’s Word and unravel the mysteries from His Word on how we may successfully govern the earth.
Thirdly, we have to acknowledge the authority of the owner (Father God) and the good, awesome and faithful intentions that He has for His world and towards us HIis creation; we who are known as the inhabitants, the dwellers, and inheritors of the benevolent and generous blessings of our Heavenly Father, by bringing our Worship, Praise and Thanksgiving to Him and Him alone through His Son Jesus Christ.
As we acknowledge God’s sole rights and ownership of the Earth and World in general, we would also in turn be endowed and bestowed upon the sole rights to be rightful/legal inheritors of not only the mysteries of God for the Earth, but also to have the administrative power and knowledge on how to effectively govern the Earth.
