BIBLE VERSE:

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV).

REFLECT:

In this life there is always a finality to something, for example, there is always a finality to life, human beings must die someday no matter how long or old we live. There is a finality in time and seasons, one season coming to an end, and another starts or begins. In other words, there will always be a beginning and an end to whatever we do here on earth. For example, the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;” (KJV)

As a result of this fundamental phenomenon of the finality of life there is this innate quest in man to search for answers to one of the most complex, but simple questions which are, what is life about, and what is the purpose of life? Which, basically, is the quest for the meaning and purpose of life that we are so familiar with. History has tons of such quests represented in stories, tales, poems, and folklore whether in written or in oral forms narrating different adventures, feats, exploits and prowess of humans and the deities they serve.

All these stories and adventures may make very good reading and may even marvel and inspire the readers. However, they do not actually answer the deep spiritual cry of man’s soul. This is because there is always a disconnect between fact, reality, and truth in such stories or narratives. To explain further, we must understand that Man needs fact or evidence to make sense of the world in which he lives in. Further, he needs reality or state of existence or substance to anchor his soul to understand how to operate in his full capacity on the earth. Finally, he needs truth which is a concrete belief or faith to connect and come into the true knowledge of the existence of a supernatural GOD who can help him navigate the spiritual realm and make it relevant to his existence on earth, and to help him fulfil destiny here on earth and in eternity.

Now can all three aspects of fact, reality and truth be accomplished, and if so then how? The answer is an emphatic yes. The reason being as a result of an event that took place more than two thousand years ago where these three dominant factors collided in one Person. That person is JESUS the Son of GOD; HE was fully GOD and fully man, who in coming to earth fully represented all three aspects in his life on earth. To buttress this fact, this is what HE had to say about HIMSELF, ‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”’ John 14: 6. (KJV). If we must connect this statement JESUS made to our three factors, it would be explained this way:

1. I am the way—I am the fact you need to make sense of the world you live in!
2. I am the life—I am the reality to anchor your soul in, to understand how to operate in your full capacity on earth!
3. I am the truth—I am the connection you need to come to the knowledge of the existence of a supernatural GOD who can help you navigate the spiritual realm and make it relevant to your existence here on earth, as well as help fulfil destiny here on earth and in eternity!

JESUS accomplished all this to the letter by the reason of HIS death on the cross, burial, resurrection from the dead, and last but not least, his ascension to Heaven. Hence, demonstrating to us that indeed there is a GOD who we must strive to know to accomplish all of life’s purpose and destiny for which HE created us to accomplish. So how can we come to fully know this GOD? This is what should be done:

1. We must Fear GOD.
2. We must keep GOD’s Commandments, which is HIS Word written in the Bible.

The above are the two most crucial answers to the question of man’s existence that stand out and resonate throughout eternity.

‘When we key into what JESUS came to show us and all HE accomplished for us as HE walked this earth, and sealing it with HIS death on the cross, burial, resurrection from the dead and ascension to Heaven; and more so, realizing that GOD is all we need and everything we have in this life comes from HIM, only then can we be able to truly and ultimately come into a full realization of the whole purpose of our existence in this life which is to worship, honour and give GOD glory”.

FATHER GOD, I am so grateful that I have a way to worship You. I am grateful that I can draw close to You and listen to You. Root me in Your love and let that inspire me to obey You.
