BIBLE VERSE:
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16 (KJV).
REFLECT:
Repentance through confession is a powerful Crucible containing tools GOD has given to us believers. Even more powerful and useful is it when we as believers confess our faults to one another.
Why is it that Repentance and Confession are powerful Crucibles? This is because they act as containers, vessels, or holds that have the specific tools to deliver us from demonic strongholds and help bring us into a new experience in GOD.
When we confess our sins with a broken and penitent heart and especially when we do this together in agreement with other believers, we disarm Satan’s accusations and the verdicts of hell against our lives and gives us the opportunity to partner with GOD as we willingly hand over our will to HIM so that HE can act on our behalf. In so doing, GOD uses HIS Sovereign Power to bring victory in that area of our lives in which we need it the most.
Another reason why we are encouraged to confess our sins/faults to one another would be for certain things GOD would like us to be aware of to bring about the lasting results HE would want us to have in our lives. The following are a few reasons to consider (these reasons presented below are taken from this writer’s perspective and experiences with GOD).
Confessing to one another would result in the following :
1. Evokes in us the power of reflection. It brings us to a point of vulnerability as well as to a place of humility. As we allow the HOLY SPIRIT work in us in the place of confession, repentance, and prayer, we reflect realizing that we are not better, or more spiritually superior than the other person and that all of us, everyone could be susceptible to the same kind of trials and temptations, and may fall into the same kind of sin.
2. It will help us bear each other’s burdens in love and compassion. As we confess and pray for each other, we tend to tear down the masks we hide behind. We become open, sympathetic, and tender-hearted towards each other’s needs. This causes us to become compassionate and show love to each other. The kind of love that was commanded in John chapter 17.
3. It will enable us in fulfilling the ministry of reconciliation that GOD has called every believer to, by helping to bring about deliverance in our lives and to others, as well as reconcile our brother or sister who may have missed the mark by bringing them
back to their first love–JESUS.
When we cultivate an attitude of repenting and confessing our faults or sins to one another we unlock GOD’S Power, which enables Grace to achieve victory in every area of our lives.
