Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
1 John 4:15 (KJV).
REFLECT:
Living in a world of diverse opinions and beliefs, it is commonplace to see or hear people make confessions about certain dogmas, ideologies, or beliefs. In their explanations, they may tell us the reasons why they hold tenaciously to such beliefs, even when their actions seem not to make any sense, or there is no concrete evidence backing their claims or even the fact that such beliefs and all they stand for are downright inhuman, satanic and offer no hope at all.
That is the more reason why we who have come to believe in Christ Jesus must guard the confession of our faith jealously and must not take it for granted, and why should we do this? The reason is that it was not obtained for us through mere irrelevant actions, rather the price for which this salvation was given was huge and very precious.
It cost Jesus his life on the cross and for this reason, the Bible tells us in Philippians 2:12 to “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.” One way we can work out our salvation continuously is by daily acknowledging Jesus in our lives through our actions and interactions. The act of acknowledgment is a very important weapon and tool a believer has. This is because acknowledging something or someone portrays ownership, agreement, and oneness. Hence when we acknowledge Jesus in our lives, we say we are one with Him in agreement and ownership, we are His and He is ours.
In keeping with our narrative, if we say we are one with Jesus we must be very careful in our walk as Christians and in the way we portray Jesus. First, we must confess and acknowledge Jesus for who He rightly is as the Son of God.
Secondly, we must acknowledge to ourselves and to everyone His death on the cross which stems from God’s love for us.
Thirdly, we must acknowledge His miraculous and powerful resurrection from the dead and what that means to us as His followers.
Lastly, we must have true fellowship with Him, by allowing Him to abide and live in our hearts and we must also see ourselves abiding in Him as we begin to have intimate communion with His word and Holy Spirit.
We must always be prepared and ready to communicate our faith confession to those around us by being living epistles of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Acknowledging Jesus in our lives for who He is, and what He means to us is the key to a Victorious Christian life.
