Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV).
REFLECT:
When we look around us and consider the ways we interact with life and all that it offers, we cannot help but see the working of things that could be termed as an upside-down approach of the world’s perceptions and thinking to life.
Some of these approaches are embedded in certain idiomatic statements, and utterances we have often included in our conversations such as, “seeing is believing;” “out of sight is out of mind, “people can only relate to what is before them, ” heaven helps those who help themselves,” and many other similar kinds of such sayings.
Unbeknown to us, especially Christians when we allow ourselves to engage in such frivolous talk and thought patterns, we tend to hinder ourselves from truly utilizing that divine gift God has given us to achieve the impossible, the gift of the mind.
You see, God has endowed man with a very powerful tool–the mind, and that if used in conjunction with the Power of the Holy Spirit will achieve impossible feats that would turn situations and circumstances around, i.e. the right side up and affect our world in amazing ways. To buttress this explanation are the following Bible passages:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV).
And:
“He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy” (Ecclesiastes 3:11a. AMP).
The question that comes to mind as we reflect and ponder on these scriptural verses is: how can we effectively achieve this purpose of activating our minds in the right way? The solution is not far-fetched, our Bible verse for today shows us the way and manner to achieve this purpose. This is through the mechanics, dynamics, and technic of the application of ‘FAITH.’
Faith is not necessarily based out on the rudimentary perceptions of the 5 senses (ie-touch, hearing, sight, smell, or taste), although these could be utilized if and when the occasion calls for it, but rather and most essentially, Faith is the absolute trust, confidence, and hope we have or put in an absolute and Divine God, Who can do absolutely every and anything we can ever imagine or think of.
Furthermore, in applying the mechanism of faith the right way, we align our thinking, and utterances with God’s Word, thoughts, and ways to create an environment for Heaven to be established on earth.
On the other hand, when we allow ourselves to be taken with the mundane and rudimentary perceptions, thought, and speech patterns of this world we create an ineffective environment for divine possibilities to occur.
When we fully, wholeheartedly engage our minds with the mind of God and His Christ through the Power of His Holy Spirit, we will not only set the world upright, but we will set it ablaze for amazing things that can only be achieved by the Divine Presence of God.
