Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10 (KJV).
REFLECT:
Assuming the position of staying still and quiet is something very difficult for us humans to do, and even more difficult in these times we live in. Everybody wants to act or react to something, be heard or seen even when it is outrightly not necessary.
There is so much frenzy all around us, nobody wants to wait, ponder, or consider issues even when it is just for a few minutes. The high-tech way of life shoved onto our laps with the likes of social media, tv shows, and of course, the news media compounds the issue even more. With so much clutter in our lifestyle, our lives are a continuous buzz even while we are sleeping.
Sincerely speaking, this kind of lifestyle is not good for us health-wise —physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. Such a lifestyle takes a lot from us and robs us of the real essence for which God created us to be.
Our Bible verse for today, calls us into the realization of what it means to be still, quiet, and calm. Mind you, being still does not mean one should be docile, ineffective, or lethargic. What this Bible verse means here is that we must never allow things or situations around us to distract our focus, faith, and trust away from God and what He is doing or saying concerning us.
We must bring ourselves to a place of rest, trust, and dependence on God. Assuming a posture of rest and being still before God means:
1. Putting our total trust, and dependence on God.
2. Having absolute faith in His abilities.
3. Believing in His Word, and promises
4. Knowing that He can never lie.
5. Believing that He will always come through on His promises.
6. Knowing that when He speaks, what He says always comes to pass.
7. Determining in our hearts to go the whole length with God and to see that His purposes are established in our lives, and on the earth.
Just like in Exodus 14:13 when Moses told the children of Israel to take a stand, to assume a posture of calm, stillness, and rest,
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” (KJV), what Moses was trying to accomplish was to give Israel one of the most strategic spiritual weapons for warfare; one that is sure to move God’s hands anytime, anywhere.
Everywhere in the Bible when this Spiritual weapon for warfare was applied there were always tremendous results accomplished. Why was this the case? The reason is that when we bring ourselves to the point of assuming such a stand, God Himself takes over awesomely and He never misses to hit the target, not by a hair’s breadth.
So, is there anyone reading this reflection today in a tight and unbearable situation? Be encouraged, rise up and take a stand, be still before the Lord, and rest in Him. Believe and trust Him for who He is and what He says He can and will do. For He has gone ahead to fight your battle. HALLELUJAH!
When situations and circumstances become unbearable or too difficult to handle God would like for us to turn to Him, totally trusting and depending on Him. As we take a stand, assuming the strategic spiritual weapon of rest, calm, and stillness, God goes ahead of us to fight the battle for us.
