Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17 (KJV).

REFLECT:
There are certain things or essentials of life that the world’s systems work very hard to produce, reproduce, or achieve. However, even with the amount of time, labor, and excruciating efforts applied to these pursuits, there is still a lack in the quality, effectiveness, and standards in their ability to deliver accurately.

These things are none other than the essentials of life connoted by the terms or words they are usually presented to us which are as follows – good, better, perfect, dependable, durable, consistent, and continuity.

The world works very hard to replicate all these aspects mentioned above within and across the systems it holds. For example, when we hear slogans such as better health care, good and affordable housing, no more hunger, a better life…. for all in the year 2055… Such missions are used as vehicles to bring through the hope that we can attain the essentials of life we are striving for and, by the way, these are all worthy ventures and are gifts that every one of us should enjoy.

Sadly, however, when we eventually get to the set time promised we find out that we fall short of being able to achieve these goals, and in fact, worse still we are faced with more crisis on our hands. These are facts that are not hidden from our view, we see and hear of them every day.

However, the reason for this terrible shortcoming, if we are truthful to ourselves is that there is a disconnect from the only true and reliable source. The world is going on its tangent and not plugged into the right source.

The question we must ask at this point is, who or what is the right source? This is where our Bible verse for today comes into effective use. In this Bible verse, we are made aware of who the true source is, and that Source is God Almighty our Heavenly Father.

Furthermore, the verse also reveals to us the essential virtues of life that flow through and from this Source. These essential virtues stem from the essence of God’s Divine nature—- the who and what He is, and these are:

1. That God our Heavenly Father is Good and is all Goodness.
2. He is all light, therefore, righteous, and perfect.
3. There is no grey area, shadow, or deceit in Him, which makes Him dependable, consistent, trustworthy, steadfast, and showing continuity in the things He promises to do.

Indeed, this is an accurate picture of our God. He is the God who has a perfect record and from Him flows all good and perfect gifts.

Therefore, if we must completely and fully achieve the true essentials of life we so desire, we must then bring ourselves to understand the true nature of this God we call our Heavenly Father, realizing that these essentials flow out of the essence of who and what GOD is.
