A Love That Begets More Love

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV).

REFLECT:
‘Love’ is known as a common phenomenon in the world we live in. There is a popular saying that Love is a universal language, which may be true to a large extent. After all, people fall in love every day, but they also fall out of love too daily. Which makes one wonder if the love we see happening around us is truly productive and consistent, and if not, is this the kind of love we want?

Indeed, everybody desires to love and be loved and we go to every length possible to seek love. However, the sad thing is that the kind of love we seek and pursue and eventually obtain falls short in many ways. A love that is a derivative of what we can get and benefit from rather than what we can give or render selflessly, such love is selfish, evil, and wicked. Therefore, a love based on conditional agreements and intentions can never be productive and can never be consistent.

Notwithstanding, man was originally created to love and to give love. He was created by a God whose nature and characteristics is Love itself, and so at creation man was endowed with the same characteristics and nature of Almighty God. However, after the fall man’s natural ability to love fell short of God’s Divine ability to love.

When man disobeyed and ate from the tree of the ‘Knowledge of good and evil’ there was a distortion and misrepresentation of the Divine love God put in man. Hence rather than producing after its kind—that is begetting more love, it gave rise to mutations of different variants, that were foreign and inconsistent with God’s Divine love.

So, after all, has been said and done, we may want to ask if there is any possibility for the Divine DNA of God’s Love to be reinstated back? Can we i.e., man once again begin to experience and operate in the capacity of God’s Love, to produce after its kind and remain consistent?

Absolutely! “For with God, nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37 KJV). Our Bible verse for today tells us or gives us a very pertinent instruction. This instruction is key to our achieving and re-establishing God’s Divine Love in our lives once again. (Please refer to the Bible verse of the day in the picture caption).

However, there are some conditional steps to take for this to fully happen. It boils down to a matter of making an informed decision and choices. The following gives more clarity to the conditions to abide by:

First, we must accept Jesus as the Lord of our lives. For Jesus is God’s Divine Love for mankind. In accepting Jesus, God does a supernatural and Divine work in recreating His Divine Love in us.

Secondly, we must receive the Holy Spirit and invite Him to dwell in our hearts. The work of the Holy Spirit is to help teach us all about God through studying His Word, prayer, and fellowship with God.

Thirdly as we give ourselves to allowing the ministry of the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, we begin to also automatically see ourselves fervently seeking and hungering after God’s love, to understand God’s love, grow in God’s love, and give our whole self to God in love.

Making it our priority to Love the Lord with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our strength, is key to accomplishing the plan put in motion through the Divine DNA of God’s Love encoded in us from the beginning of creation—-the plan to consistently produce after our kind, also known as ‘A LOVE that Begets More LOVE.’

FATHER GOD, obedience is one way that I can show my faith and love for You. Teach me how to be a more obedient servant. Fill my heart with the perfect love you’ve shown me. Teach me what it looks like to offer every part of myself—heart, soul, and strength—to You. Please help me to love You without barriers and as I do that, give me the Grace to replicate this love for Your Church. In JESUS MIGHTY NAME AMEN!
