A Place of Strength

A Woman near a cross

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him Psalms 28:7 (KJV).

REFLECT:
Seeking help today? If the answer is yes, do not be discouraged, there is always a way out.

Though the people in our lives, such as our loved ones, family, friends, or acquaintances may shy away from lending a helping hand, our hearts must stay encouraged at the fact that there is one who will never let us down, and that one individual is God Almighty.

Our Bible verse for today admonishes us of this eternal truth, encouraging us to put our trust in God. Furthermore, this verse offers us some extensive insight on the Why (reason or justification) and the How (method or ways) we must employ to fully gain access to the help God offers and gives to us.

Firstly, let us examine the Why? This will be the reason or the justification for seeking help from God. The reasons are that we must realize that as human beings we cannot go too far in helping ourselves based on our abilities, strength, knowledge, or wisdom.

Yes, there are times when solutions or help come much quicker and easier, and we think we achieved such success because we put in the right or intended effort to achieve the result. This is a deception we must not allow ourselves to get into. We must always realize that all forms of help come only from God Almighty, as Zachariah 4:6 tells us, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, ‘Says the Lord of hosts.” (KJV).

After we have come to realize this fact that all forms of help, no matter how small or big the help we need, comes only from God we should then bring our hearts to the point of being carefully, strongly, and particularly convinced of God’s all-surpassing Strength, Power, and protection. Therefore, we put our faith in HIM as our Strength and Shield.

Thus, the reasons and justifications for seeking this God our Bible verse talks about are that He has everything it takes to help and deliver us from all forms and kinds of problems.

Now with regards to the second part of what our Bible verse for today admonishes, which is the How (method or ways), we need to employ to fully gain access to the help God offers and gives to us. To achieve this, we should endeavor to access God as the Place and as the Person of our Strength and Protection by always having a heart of thanksgiving, gratitude, praise, and worship. “O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.” (Psalm 95: 1-5 KJV). HALLELUJAH!!

More importantly, when we make it our sole intention to always look to God as our help and strength, we are telling our Father God, that He has all our attention, our focus, our hearts and minds on Him alone and none else. Therefore, He is our only solution, help, strength, support, safety, and deliverance. Hence, we bring ourselves, circumstances, and situations to align with God’s eternal truth presented in His word in the Bible.

Staying in the place and position of thanksgiving, gratitude, praise, and worship brings us into the realm of God’s Sovereign Power, Strength, Help, Deliverance, and Protection.
